Watering Graves

Crystal water droplets
Saturate the soil
To make the burial easier
In my fertile field of
Barren abandonment

I keep watering graves
Long dead
Expecting the fake flowers
To change colors
Multiplying acres of spent blooms

Maybe I’ll still do it
Until the day I die
Sharing my hydration
With the toxic that can’t taste
Their own arid poison

Same as it ever was
Every new crop
Of wilted blossoms
Adds another layer
To my garden of graves

I wish someone would
Return the favor
And hose down
My burial plot
For once
