Plus more?

A woman that can stop you cold Knows she is powerful Never afraid to be bold You wanted all of that  Plus more? A mother, a fighter Lover and laugher Your black widow spider You wanted all of that Plus more? A stay home maker Dinner cooking Baby shaper You wanted all of that  Plus more? A divorce, a disease Left alone Maker of dreams I am all of the above Plus more

Lean

You gave me a place to lean Fitting of your name But your ego chewed My tenderness And spit it out again Now I lean only On my own kindness Lean only On my own vision Lean only On me

Fall Leaf Salad

Image
Fall leaf salad A smattering of colors Golden burning fire A scattering of decay From places found much higher I traipse through  Our crusty remnants Crunch them into the ground Nourish the Earth With our decomposition  So something good  Can remain Until spring returns And I am capable  Again

Carnival Glass

When summer springs to fall You sprinkle me with pity  Only to call it love But you were just my stress ball Something to squeeze  Until you’ve had enough And I will replace you Over and over again  With shadows of the man I thought you were A cycle of baubles That aren’t worth my effort Now you’re just an antiqued  Piece of carnival glass A trinket won in a bottle toss Added to my collection Stashed away in the attic For someone else to come along And trip over your treasure

Shaken Not Stirred

I poured myself into your glass Though you never asked for a drink Dripped down your throat So thick You can’t swallow Can’t think I ruin my knights in armor  No distress in this damsel Once I’ve caught the scent I’ll be gone before you know A shaken etch-a sketch  Your charity erased by my pencil My mood swings with an uppercut   But your punches  Cluttered my heart Now you’re just words to be read When I make you into my art You’re already as good as dead
