Fingernails

Fingernails across a chalkboard
sharper than any sword

Fingernails drumming on the counter
painting with glitter makes them louder

Fingernails brushing through my hair
leading you back into my lair

Fingernails running down his back
following a winding track

Fingernails slide on slippery glass
straining to hold on as life comes to pass

Fingernails scratching at the door for help
I hide hopelessly in wait for me to attack myself

Fingernails digging up from the dirt
screaming I wasn't finished with the hurt

Fingernails slicing my throat
with the words that I wrote

Fingernails now broken and chipped
leave me bleeding and tight lipped
