Dormant Blooms

We do not cry when flowers die
But save their petals
For our memories
Because we are all
Just dormant blooms

Snip us at the stems
And we can still survive
With a scant dose of water
And stored strength
From deep inside

A corpse plant
Can take forty years to flower
Resting and growing
It’s most exquisite power
In death bloom
