What does it feel like to leave the country and your family behind?

What do you think about on that 12 hour plane ride?

Do you fantasize about opening up the emergency exit door and hurling yourself into the Atlantic?

What kind of drugs must you have pumping in your veins to make you abandon your entire life?

Is it easy to just walk away from your restaurant, leaving the teenagers waiting outside wondering where their boss went?

What lies fill your mouth when your mother first lays her eyes on what you have become?

Will she feel shame that the son she sent to a foreign country at the age of 14 never grew up?

Does she feel remorse for what she did not do?What she unleashed on America?

How do you forget the names of your children, the ones named after your own parents?

How do you erase those faces from your memory?

Do you wish Mount Vesuvius would erupt again while you stroll the streets of Pompeii, leaving you a scorched cast of what your life once was?

Do you still tell everyone how awful that American girl was? How she turned your kids into a paycheck?

Are you still going to Uganda to teach orphans how to make bread after denying the ones you actually brought into this world?

How desperate are you to make sure you die young? How awful is it growing old being you?

How am I supposed to tell my two youngest that they will never see their father again? I guess if they ask about you I’ll figure it out. 

Do you renounce your U.S. citizenship just as easily as you do your responsibilities?

How am I going to resist the urge to slit you open from nuts to neck if I ever get within arms reach of you again?

Can you teach me how to forget and misdirect so that I can get rid of you once and for all just like you did with us?

Will you just please stay gone?

    It's infuriating to see someone pick up and leave their spouse and abandon their kids and employees just to know that they will spin every one of their selfish actions into everyone else's fault. Let's hope his mom isn't easily fooled.

This picture will always be one of my favorites, but not for the reasons you might think. I was smack dab in the middle of the absolute worst time of my life, just trying to put on a smile for these three little people that were and are still much more important than me. Nanna was only 2 months old, Luca 16 months, and Anthoni was 8. My body felt ravaged, like it had been pregnant for nearly two years straight and my mind was going downhill. Fast.  I was so alone. Covered with kids at all times, but more alone than I have ever felt. It did not make sense. It’s the part of motherhood that no one tells you about. Merchants Tire and Auto

I’m currently sitting at my most least favorite car place, Merchant's Tire and Auto. They changed their name to NTB several years ago, but it will always just be Merchant’s to me.  It doesn’t matter what I do, I always end up spending 2 plus hours in this damn place. Today I set an appointment for an oil change and am leaving with a new set of tires an alignment and $1000 poorer. Despite all of that, I still keep coming here. They have always done all the maintenance on my Odyssey mom van and I don’t really feel like they try to rip me off too badly. I always bring my notebook with me to write. I have written several poems in the waiting room of this grimy car shop. I’m writing this from the same spot right now. But I don’t feel poetic right now, just reflective.
